The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Sakarin Nonthapot, Head of the research project "Environmental and Transportation Impacts on Tourism of Thailand," under the Memorandum of Understanding "Sustainable Tourism Research Network" in collaboration with Prince of Songkla University, organized a comprehensive research and workshop seminar from June 29 – July 2, 2025, to promote research and development of knowledge in sustainable tourism.
The seminar featured a special lecture on "Creative Economy" by Professor Dr. Wing-Keung Wong from Asia University, Taiwan, delivered on June 29, 2025, at the Ban Pho Tak Community Learning Center, Pho Tak District, Nong Khai Province. This session received enthusiastic participation from attendees and provided valuable insights into creative economy applications in tourism.
On July 1, 2025, at Innovation Park, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Professor Dr. Wing-Keung Wong delivered two significant lectures. The first focused on "How to get papers published in reputable journals," providing valuable insights for students, researchers, and academics seeking to publish in international journals. The second lecture on "Statistics Trend in Tourism" presented significant statistical trends for analyzing and forecasting future tourism directions.
Associate Professor Dr. Thanet Wattanakul, Head of the Social Sciences Department, welcomed the distinguished speaker and officially opened the project, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in sustainable tourism research.
This seminar aimed to study the impacts of transportation and tourism connectivity in Thailand and the sub-region, examining the relationship between environmental impact issues and tourism development. These crucial topics require comprehensive study for effective tourism development planning. The event not only enhanced participants' knowledge and understanding of key sustainable tourism issues but also served as a platform for experience exchange, establishing a fundamental basis for driving tourism research that will benefit the country's sustainable development goals.
The workshop represents a significant step forward in building a robust research network that will continue to address emerging challenges in sustainable tourism development across the region.
