Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, KKU Welcomes Deputy Governor of Nong Khai to Discuss Cooperation in Education, Public Health, and Community Economy.
On June 24, 2026, at 2:30 PM, at the Dean's Reception Room, Administration Building, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, Assistant Professor Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, together with the executive team, welcomed Mr. Kittisak Teerawattana, Deputy Governor of Nong Khai Province, on the occasion of his visit to the faculty and joint discussion on official matters to drive integrated provincial development in collaboration with the academic institution.
The discussion covered a wide range of significant issues across multiple dimensions. Beginning with education and learner capacity development, both parties exchanged views on teaching and learning management and trends in student enrollment. They emphasized that education in the present era must focus on cultivating critical thinking processes and continuously providing learners with opportunities to explore new knowledge, in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing world. Furthermore, the discussion highlighted the importance of utilizing the university's research outputs and activities as mechanisms to promote and develop communities, thereby enhancing the quality of life and educational quality of people in Nong Khai Province.
Regarding public health, which is considered an urgent and critical agenda for the province, the Deputy Governor of Nong Khai raised the issues of liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) for joint discussion. The province requested the university's cooperation in helping to raise public awareness and communicate the dangers of these diseases to the community, with the aim of addressing public health problems in a concrete and tangible manner.
In addition, discussions were held on community economy and local innovation, during which the Deputy Governor addressed topics related to the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies' field engagement in supporting and developing community-produced goods, recycling waste management, product processing, and the creation of innovations arising from collaboration between the university and local administrative organizations. Emphasis was placed on innovations that are practically applicable and have received standard certification. The discussion also extended to tourism development, with the aim of setting a unified direction for tourism in Nong Khai Province so that all relevant agencies can operate in a consistent and aligned manner.
Following the conclusion of the discussions, Assistant Professor Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon led the Deputy Governor's delegation on a visit to the Nong Khai Aquarium to observe the aquatic animal exhibition. Associate Professor Dr. Thanet Wattanakul, Director of the Aquarium, joined in welcoming the delegation and guided the tour of the facility. Later in the evening, the executive team and the Deputy Governor visited the " Talad Laeng MoKho " (KKU Night Market) to meet and converse with local vendors selling goods and food at the market. The atmosphere throughout was warm and friendly.
