Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, participated in a national economics forum and is poised to forge collaboration with Singapore to elevate research to an international level.

On July 2, 2026, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies Khon Kaen University made a significant stride in the academic arena by participating in a major national economics conference and initiating strategic discussions for international research collaboration with a prestigious institute from Singapore.

The delegation was led by Dr. Peechaya Chongudomkarn, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanet Wattanakul from the Department of Social Sciences, acting as the designated representative of the Dean. The executives were honored to attend the opening ceremony of the "19th National Conference for Economists and Graduate Students in Economics," held at Meeting Room 3, Faculty of Economics, KKU.

This year’s national conference was convened under a highly relevant theme addressing current global challenges: "Collaborative Economics in a Volatile World: Geoeconomics, AI, New Rules, and the Future of the GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion)." The participation of FIS executives strongly reflects the faculty's commitment to integrating various academic disciplines. This interdisciplinary approach is vital for understanding and developing solutions to the rapid economic and technological transformations shaping the modern world.

Beyond the national academic gathering, the Faculty of Economics also invited the FIS executive team to join a special international roundtable discussion. The key agenda focused on "Opportunities and Guidelines for Research and Academic Collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Assoc. Prof. Simon SC Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA)."

Engaging directly with the chairman of a premier Singaporean think tank marks a crucial milestone for the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies. Expanding this international research network will not only elevate the faculty's academic output to global standards but also open new, invaluable doors. These global synergies are expected to yield immense benefits, ultimately maximizing the potential and future development of both faculty members and students.
