Breaking the Classroom Mold! KKU’s Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies Takes Students into the Field Grooming Digital Marketers for the Food Industry
September 3, 2026 – Because modern education demands "seeing and experiencing the real thing," the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Khon Kaen University recently took learning beyond the classroom walls. The initiative aimed to transform textbook theories into practical knowledge through immersive, real-world business exposure.
Associate Professor Dr. Kritsda Khajarern from the Applied Science program, along with Ms. Somprasong Pariwat, led a group of undergraduate students majoring in Food Technology and Innovation—currently enrolled in the IS134802 Digital Marketing course—on a field trip to Thai Royal Food Limited Partnership in Khon Kaen province.
Driven by the concept of "Learning theory in the classroom, observing reality on-site," the excursion provided students with an exclusive experience that textbooks cannot offer. Participants were granted a behind-the-scenes look into the operations of the food manufacturing industry. More importantly, they witnessed firsthand how a professional organization utilizes digital marketing tools in real-world scenarios to generate sales and drive business growth.
The field trip successfully bridged the gap between academic theory and practical application. Not only was the experience highly engaging and enjoyable, but it also sparked fresh ideas and inspiration that the students brought back to further their projects to the fullest.
This initiative marks another significant step for the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Khon Kaen University in its ongoing commitment to producing well-rounded graduates. The faculty strives to develop professionals who are not only academically proficient but also visionary and fully equipped to thrive in the modern, digital-driven workforce.
